Street art in Valparaiso, Chile: Charquipunk, INTI & LRM

Weekly Photo: The Colourful Street Art in Valparaiso, Chile

Before arriving to Valparaiso in Chile, I was already expecting to see some impressive street art; but I was not ready for how really awesome it all is! In Valparaiso I saw some of the best street art in South America. This mural was one of my favourites. It’s a collaboration between local artists Charquipunk, INTI & LRM.

Have you visited Valparaiso? Which do you think is the best destination for street art in South America? Leave a comment, I’d love to know!

Wow, this looks amazing. I’ve heard so much about the street-art in Valparaiso and am really sad that I’m probably not going to make it that way on this trip. Thanks for sharing your photos. I’ve just been having a proper look through your blog- it’s really interesting and well put together! I’ll be sure to be a regular visitor from now on.

    • Thanks for your kind comment, Katie :) Street art is a big feature in Valparaiso so I’m sure there still be plenty of street art when you make it there on a future trip ;) If you’re visiting more places in South America, I can recommend these cities for street art: Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Cochabamba, Lima, Bogotá and Cartagena. Happy travels!

  • That looks amazing I really love the colors in the pictures.

Fantastic!!!! I will have to get there in our South America journey. We just left Bogota, Colombia and thought the grafiteros and street art there were amazing also! Street art is prohibited but not illegal in Bogota so there is a strong presence everywhere. We took an excellent walking tour with a local grafitero named Christian who explained about who the different artists were, their artistic a styles and techniques, and the socio-political messages behind the art. Highly recommended for anyone who is going to be in Bogota. It think there is info in either Lonely Planet or Tripadvisor.

  • Thanks for the tip about graffiti in Bogota :) I haven’t been there in a long time, but I’d love to go back and see what’s new around there. I hope you enjoy the street art in other parts of South America as well. It’s really impressive!
