A Brokedown Melody (2004)

After leaving the Canadian Rockies behind, we made our way to the hamlet of Priddis where we stayed for a couple of days at Rob’s, another of Alain’s friends. He lives in an awesome property surrounded by prairies and nothing else. Unfortunately for us, it didn’t stop raining during our time there. So we took refuge inside his house and took the opportunity to catch up with our emails and watch movies.

The film I enjoyed the most was A Brokedown Melody (2004), a documentary about surfing with a kick-ass soundtrack. The movie follows surfers Kelly Slater, Jack Johnson (yes, the singer!), Gerry Lopez, Rob Machado and the Malloys, riding waves in South America, Polynesia and Jamaica; while trying to pass on their passion to the younger generation. The images are stunning and the music takes them to another level.
