Walking around the charming little streets of La Candelaria hunting for street art, can certainly leave you hungry. Fortunately, there are lots of places around this neighbourhood to satisfy any sort of international food cravings you may have.
During one of our walking expeditions through town, we came across Al Samira — a tiny and cute little place offering Arab food in Bogota. The meals are not only delicious, they are also a pretty good deal. We decided to share between the both of us the Arab Special, a combo that included soup, a mixed plate that let us sample some of the restaurant’s main offerings, and dessert.
The soup of the day was a delicious blend of lentils, zucchini and other veggies seasoned with some very tasty spices. The serving was big enough to calm the empty feeling in our stomachs and to warm us up on that rainy afternoon. It was followed by the nicely presented main dish, which allowed us to sample the hummus, baba ganush, falafel, shawarma, and tabbouleh among other delicacies. To drink, we had some sweet lemonade with mint.
To finish our meal, we had some strawberries and apple slices with chocolate syrup and cream. Everything was super delicious and in the end our bill was for only $16,600 COP (6,50€) for the both of us!!! A pretty sweet deal any way you look at it :)
