After some 30 plus hours of traveling (don’t ask…), we landed once again in Bogota on a late November evening. Since we were flying in from Canada, the city didn’t feel so cold and damp this time around. We both felt dirty and exhausted. All we wanted was to get to the hostel ASAP. We didn’t have a reservation, so we weren’t really sure where we’d sleep that night. But we didn’t feel like walking around with all our luggage in the sometimes sketchy area of La Candelaria.
Luckily, there was room for us at Musicology Hostel, a charming and very affordable place that is not far from Botero’s Museum. We stayed in a 6 beds dorm room ($22000 COP/per person, per night), with not only breakfast included in the price but also dinner! There was free WiFi, a movie collection at their guests’ disposal, luggage storage and the use of the hostel after check out.
Overall, our stay at Musicology was pleasant. There was a relaxed atmosphere and the staff was nice and helpful. Also, it felt safe at all times; which is important in that area. Breakfast was OK. It consists of bread with jam and fruits and coffee everyday. Dinner was surprisingly good, specially considering that it was free; and they served something different every night.
