With its diverse landscapes and exuberant nature, Colombia is an authentic paradise for nature lovers. For most of us, an escape into nature offers a great chance for recharging one’s batteries and disconnect for a bit. So it is no wonder that glamping in Colombia is a trend that is picking up!
What is Glamping?
There is no exact definition for glamping. It is a subjective concept that can mean very different things for different people. In the most basic sense, glamping seeks to combine a stay immersed in nature (like in traditional camping) with upgraded accommodation that can be a bit more luxurious than sleeping in your own tent.
And that’s where it gets tricky. What is luxurious for some people might be quite basic for others. But still, what all these accommodations do have in common is their aim to help guests to enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature.
Also, glamping is not limited to tents. It can also include some unusual accommodations like tree-houses, cute little cabins, and bubbles!
Glamping Near Bogota
1. NIDDO Suesca
Set on a hillside in one of the best areas for outdoor sports in Colombia, NIDDO Suesca offers a limited selection of cozy tents and cabins. Their accommodations are decorated with soothing soft tones and include a private bathroom, a heater, and an electric kettle to prepare warm drinks.
This chic 4-star mini-resort is located about 4 km (2.5 miles) outside the town of Suesca, a rock climbing paradise just 60 km (37 miles) north of Bogota. They can help you organize different outdoor activities and excursions, including birdwatching, mountain biking, rock climbing, and caving. And if you simply wish to relax, there is also a tent for massages and yoga sessions.
Good to Know
The easiest way to get there is with your own transport. Renting a car might be a good option, especially if you want to visit other nearby attractions, such as the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira. Alternatively, they also offer direct private transfers from Bogota for an additional fee.
NIDDO also serves food onsite. They offer a full meal package that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner for COP $90,000 (about $27 USD or €24). Individual meals are COP $35,000.
Rates: from COP $233,000 (about $69 USD or €62) for a standard two-person tent, to COP $712,000 (about $210 USD or €189) for a six-person superior tent.

2. Bubble Sky Glamping
Located near El Retiro, just 33 km (20 miles) away from Medellin, Bubble Sky Glamping offers a unique and luxurious experience for guests looking to disconnect. Their guest rooms are set in transparent bubbles, which are perfect for stargazing right from your bed.
Each bubble is set in a private raised platform that includes a lounge, a private jacuzzi, an outdoor shower with hot water, and a barbecue. Inside, there is a large and comfortable bed and a heater.
Good to Know
There are only eight bubbles available for renting, which guarantees that all guests can enjoy their privacy. Thus, it is recommended to book in advance. This accommodation is for adults only.
There is no restaurant on-site, but a gas barbecue is available on your private terrace. So don’t forget to bring some snacks and drinks. Alternatively, you can order food from nearby restaurants and have it delivered to your bubble.
Rates: from COP $590,000 (about $175 USD or €158) per night in a two-person bubble.
3. BOSKO Guatapé
Overlooking a beautiful lake, Bosko features luxurious dome tents surrounded by luscious vegetation and offering breathtaking views. This rural hotel is located on the outskirts of the colorful village of Guatapé and about one kilometer away from the impressive Peñol de Guatapé. It is also 83 km (52 miles) away from Medellin, which make it an ideal option for a weekend escapade.
Each dome is fully private and they all have an outdoor shower, mini-bar and a terrace for stargazing and enjoying the sunrise and sunset. If you are looking for a romantic place to stay and explore one of the must-see destinations of Colombia, this is the place for you!
Good to Know
Some of the extras that you can book for an additional fee include massages, a speedboat tour around the lake, a helicopter tour around the famous monolith, and more!

4. Natural Eco Hotel
A bit further away (about 180 km or 110 miles) from Medellin, the Natural Eco Hotel is located on a stretch of the road to Puerto Triunfo. This accommodation consists of just a few lovely cabins surrounded by lush green vegetation and with views to a river.
The wooden cabins have a rustic ambiance and feature an open setting with beds equipped with mosquito nets. Each cabin has an outdoor shower and a bathtub or jacuzzi set by a terrace. There is no hot water, though. But in such a tropical region, it shouldn’t be necessary. Also, keep in mind that there is no AC, fridge nor TV in the cabins.
Good to Know
These unique cabins are located on the premises of Hotel Agualinda. If you are making a booking, make sure you stay in the bungalows; otherwise, you’ll end up in one of the regular rooms in the hotel.
Rates: COP $350,000 (about $104 USD or €93) per night in a bungalow for two people, including breakfast.
Glamping in Salento
5. Montana Glamping
This small guesthouse is one of the best-kept secrets in Salento. Montana Glamping offers nicely-decorated tents set on a clearing with mountain views. It is a very peaceful environment away from the crowds.
Each tent features a very comfortable bed and an electric kettle to help you keep warm. Keep in mind that there is no heating in the tents, so if the weather is rainy it can get a bit cold. So it’s best to be prepared and bring some warm clothes.
Good to Know
There are only three tents on the premises, so it is best to book in advance. The camping place is just a 20-minute walk away from Salento. If you need to, you can arrange for transport in town for about COP $6,000 (about $1.80 USD or €1.60).
Rates: COP $185,000 (about $55 USD or €49) per night for a tent for two people, including breakfast and a shared bathroom.
6. Lumbre Glamorous Camping
Set in the Cocora Valley, just 8 km (5 miles) away from Salento, Lumbre Glamorous Camping gives guests the change to sleep immersed in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Colombia.
All tents have private bathrooms with hot water, a private deck, and a heater. There are a bar and restaurant on site. The hotel also offers a picnic service and nightly bonfires.
Good to Know
To get there, you can take a Jeep in the main square of Salento, which departs every 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can arrange a pick-up with the hotel, for an extra fee.
At night, it can get cold in the valley so bring some warm clothes. If you want to eat at the hotel during your stay, you’ll need to indicate your dietary restrictions and preferences. And the chefs will prepare a customized menu for you based on that information.
Rates: from COP $360,000 (about $106 USD or €96) per night for a standard tent for two people, and COP $600,000 (about $177 USD or €159) per night for a four-person tent.
Glamping in Barichara
7. Nativo Glamping
Located just 4 km away from Barichara, one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia, Nativo Glamping is committed to helping guests reconnect with nature. Featuring seven lovely tents and a beautiful shared lounge, this is the perfect place for a unique experience.
Each tent has a private bathroom and a small terrace, some have hammocks as well. Also, during your stay, you will have the chance to plant a tree to help the local forest grow back.

They also offer a pet-friendly tent, which you must request when you book and has an additional cost of COP $50,000 (about $15 USD or €13).

8. Casa Loma Minca
Surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Sierra Nevada, Casa Loma Minca offers travelers a special place to unwind at very affordable prices. Located 1.7 km (one mile) away from Minca, this hillside hostel offers some of the best sunset views of any hostel in Colombia.
This top-rated hostel offers several accommodation options, from very budget to more comfortable settings. However, to better enjoy this magical place and the fantastic views it offers, you should go for one of their rustic forest huts, which include their own private balcony/terrace.
Good to Know
The hostel serves tasty vegetarian meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is no WiFi at the hostel. Payments are cash only. Don’t forget to bring a lock to secure your locker.
Rates: you can camp in your own tent from COP $15,000 (about $4.50 USD or €4) per person, sleep in a hammock with mosquito net from COP $20,000 (about $6 USD or €5) per person, or book a bed in one of the dorm rooms from COP $33,000 (about $10 USD or €9).
Prices for the forest huts range from COP $50,000 (about $15 USD or €13) per night for a one-person hut, COP $90,000 (about $27 USD or €24) per night for a two-person hut, and COP $120,000 (about $36 USD or €32) per night for a two-person hut with a private bathroom featuring an outdoor shower.
9. Tayrona Tented Lodge
Located on a beach right next to Colombia’s most famous national park, the Tayrona Tented Lodge is a great place to relax after spending all day exploring the area. They offer basic tents that feature a private bathroom, a small terrace, and stunning beach views.
Good to Know
Electricity is only available from 8 pm to 8 am. Also, keep in mind that there is no AC in the rooms, no hot water, and no WiFi (if you need internet, you can get a connection in a couple of bars and hostels nearby).

10. Casa Chapolin
Designed by its Swiss owners, Casa Chapolin is a small peaceful oasis in Palomino, a beachside town on the Atlantic coast. Surrounded by palm trees, this lovely guesthouse is located just a short walk to the beach.
They offer several accommodation options: a dorm room with four beds, private rooms, basic wooden bungalows, and a tower hut with a double bed. Some of the accommodations have an outdoor shower. The decor of the whole place is modern and minimalist.
Also, the guesthouse has a particular focus on surfing and fitness, offering guests the opportunity to take some private lessons.
Good to Know
Guests usually rave about the awesome staff and the great service they offer. They also serve dinner for an extra fee. Finally, keep in mind this is a tropical location, so there is only cold water for showering.
