Just about 20 Km away from Suesca, there is a climbing area close to the town of Machetá. It’s not clearly indicated so it is best to go with someone who knows the way. If that it’s not possible, get very precise instructions about how to get there. When we finally got a chance to visit this place, we spent a good hour trying to figure out how to get to the climbing zone. It’s not surprising that this is one of the least visited climbing areas in Colombia. It turns out it’s inside private property, but we didn’t have any trouble accessing.
The climbing in Macheta is definitely not for beginners, so this day I didn’t climb at all. There are about 40 routes in the area and only a couple of those are 10s; so I just sat around admiring the view and watching the guys do impossible climbs.
And photographing little details that I found here and there…
