1. Children’s Museum of Phoenix

Offering three floors of hands-on and interactive exhibits, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix is one of the best children’s museums in the country. Activities are appropriate forĀ children ages birth to 10. Some of its main attractions are The Climber, a giant structure made of recycled materials for children to climb in; The Market, a make-believe grocery store; and the Art Studio, where kid’s imagination can reign free. The museum sits in downtown Phoenix and it is easily accessible by car or public transport.

2. Desert Botanical Garden

Located in Papago Park, this impressive botanical garden hosts a great variety of colorful flowers and hosts one the largest outdoor collection of desert plants. The Desert Botanical Garden offers special programs and classes for children of all ages. This is a great place where your kids can learn about the wonders of the desert in a stimulating environment.

3. Hole in the Rock

Just south of Desert Botanical Garden, Hole in the Rock is a natural geological formation made of sandstone in Papago Park. This is an easy walk for families with kids of all ages. It takes only about 10 minutes to get from the parking lot to the rock. The stunning views make this a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.

4. Phoenix Zoo

One of the main attractions in Papago Park, the Phoenix Zoo is home to over one thousand animals. This non-profit zoo features a Children’s Trail, where you can get closer to some animals; a large petting zoo; and special programs for kids of all ages.

5. Arizona Science Center

Located in the heart of downtown Phoenix, the Arizona Science Center offers over 300 interactive exhibitions. Some of its main attractions include a planetarium, an IMAX theater, and a studio/workshop where children can get a hands-on experience in science and technology.

6. Castles N’ Coasters

Set just next to Metrocenter mall, Castles N’ Coasters is the perfect place for a day out with the family. Here children can choose from a great variety of games and activities, such as mini-golf, go-karting, riding rollercoasters, and zip lining, among many others.

7. Musical Instrument Museum

And last but not least, the spectacular Musical Instrument Museum is one of the biggest of its kind. Its impressive collection holds samples of musical instruments from virtually every country in the world. On weekends, the museum holds special activities for families. They also have educational programs for kids age 0-10.
