Did you know that Ecuador is home to over 4000 species of orchids? No? Well, don’t feel bad, I didn’t know either. It turns out that this small South American country has the highest orchid diversity in the world. This past weekend, I visited Quito’s Botanical Garden and I relished the chance of seeing some of the most beautiful orchids in Ecuador; some of which I had never seen before. They separate their collection into two rooms: one for species of temperate climates and another for species of warmer climates. Apart from the orchids you can view displays of many other native plants; so if you’re into nature, the Botanical garden is well worth the visit.

Do you like visiting Botanical Gardens when you travel? Which one is your favourite? Leave me a comment and let me know!
